What is Blood Pressure? When your heart 💗 beats, it pushes blood out to your arteries. Blood pressure is a measurement of the force pushing outwards on your arterial walls. The pressure measured when the heart contracts and sends blood out of the heart is systolic blood pressure ( the higher number) . April is Alcohol Awareness Month! Drinking too much alcohol increases people’s risk of injuries, violence, drowning, liver disease, and some types of cancer. The good news? We can all do our part to prevent alcohol misuse or abuse. The Medical Ministry wants to spread the word about strategies for preventing alcohol misuse or abuse and encourage communities, families, and individuals to get involved. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Thank You To All Who Supported The 2016 Women's Breast Cancer 5K Walk/Run October 1st. See you next year! August is Eye Health Month. The ALCI Medical Ministry invites you to partner with us on giving the Gift of Sight as we host our Eyewear Recycle Program for donation to the Lion's Club, a local charity. “One pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used, that same pair can change another person's life.” Prescription and non-prescription eyewear for adults and children accepted.
