Strength Through Surrender: ALCI Corporate Fast Recap

March 08, 20263 min read

From Hunger to Breakthrough

From March 1st through March 7th, our church family at Abundant Life Church International came together for a powerful time of corporate prayer and fasting. Each day from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, members committed themselves to seeking God with focused prayer, spiritual discipline, and expectation. For those who needed it, a grace alternative at 3:00 PM was also available, allowing everyone to participate according to their ability.

Throughout the week, our Apostle, Edward Kirkpatrick, faithfully sent daily prayer points and encouraging messages to guide the church in unity and purpose. Each evening at 6:00 PM, many gathered again through Zoom prayer, creating a sacred space where voices and hearts joined together to seek the Lord.

This week was more than a schedule—it was a spiritual journey.

The Power of Fasting

Fasting is one of the most powerful spiritual disciplines practiced by believers throughout Scripture. It is not simply going without food; it is intentionally setting aside physical needs in order to focus on spiritual growth and intimacy with God.

When we fast, we quiet the noise of daily life and remind ourselves that our true strength comes from God alone. Hunger becomes a signal to pray, worship, and depend more deeply on Him.

During this corporate fast, many experienced:

  • Greater sensitivity to God’s voice

  • Renewed passion for prayer

  • Breakthrough in personal and family situations

  • Deeper unity within the church body

Fasting aligns our hearts with God’s will. It helps us release distractions, surrender our burdens, and invite the Holy Spirit to work in areas where we need transformation.

As Jesus reminds us, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

A Week of Unity and Spiritual Renewal

One of the most powerful aspects of this fast was unity. Though we were in different homes, workplaces, and cities, we were spiritually connected through prayer.

Each day’s prayer points from Apostle Edward Kirkpatrick helped guide us in praying for:

  • Personal spiritual growth

  • Provision and stewardship

  • Our church and leadership

  • Souls and kingdom advancement

  • God’s direction for the future

  • Sealing and commissioning

The 6 PM Zoom prayer gatherings became a time of encouragement and collective faith. Many were reminded that when the church prays together, God moves in powerful ways.

Reflection Questions

If you participated in this fast, take some time to reflect on what God may have been doing in your heart during this week.

  1. What did God reveal to you during this time of fasting and prayer?

  2. Were there any areas of your life where you sensed God calling you to grow or change?

  3. Did you experience any spiritual breakthroughs, clarity, or renewed faith?

  4. How did participating in corporate prayer impact your connection with the church community?

  5. What spiritual habits from this week can you continue in your daily life moving forward?

Reflection helps us recognize the work God has already begun and prepares us for what He will continue to do.

A Prayer After the Fast

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the opportunity to seek You together as a church family. Thank You for sustaining us during this time of prayer and fasting. Thank You for every lesson learned, every heart that was strengthened, and every prayer that was lifted to You.

Lord, we ask that the seeds planted during this week would continue to grow. Let our hunger for You remain stronger than our hunger for the things of this world. Strengthen our faith, guide our steps, and help us remain sensitive to Your voice.

Bless every person who participated in this fast. Restore their strength, fill them with peace, and continue the work You have begun in their lives.

May our church continue to be a place of prayer, unity, and spiritual growth. Lead us forward in Your purpose and help us walk daily in Your presence.

In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
