Love: The Heartbeat of the Christian Life
At Abundant Life Church International, we believe that love is not just something we talk about—it’s something we live. Love is at the very core of who God is and what He calls us to be as His people. In a world that often defines love as a feeling or an emotion that changes with circumstance, the Bible shows us a deeper, more enduring kind of love—a love that gives, forgives, and never fails.
God Is Love
The foundation of all true love begins with God Himself.
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” — 1 John 4:8 (NIV)
God doesn’t just show love—He is love. Everything He does flows from that truth. From creation to redemption, His love is on display. When He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, He gave us the greatest demonstration of love the world has ever seen.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (NIV)
This is love that acts, not just speaks. Love that sacrifices, not just sympathizes.
Called to Love Like Jesus
As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect that same love in our daily lives.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” — John 13:34 (NIV)
Jesus didn’t say love only when it’s easy, convenient, or reciprocated. He said, “as I have loved you.” That means loving through patience, forgiveness, and compassion. It means choosing to love even when we don’t feel like it.
Imagine how different our homes, workplaces, and communities would look if we loved like Jesus—selflessly, consistently, and unconditionally.
Love in Action
Love is more than words or feelings; it’s seen in how we treat others.
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18 (NIV)
At Abundant Life Church International, we believe love shows up in service, in generosity, and in kindness. When we care for the hurting, forgive the offended, and uplift the weary, we show the love of Christ in a tangible way.
Every time we extend grace, lend a hand, or share the gospel, we become living examples of God’s love on earth.
Love Never Fails
The Apostle Paul wrote one of the most beautiful descriptions of love in the Bible:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud… Love never fails.” — 1 Corinthians 13:4–8 (NIV)
True love endures. It’s not limited by time, circumstance, or human imperfection. When we walk in love, we walk in the power and presence of God Himself.
Let’s Live Love Out Loud
At Abundant Life Church International, our prayer is that we would be known not just by our faith, but by our love. Let’s be a church that overflows with the love of God—reaching beyond our walls and into our community with the message of hope and grace found in Jesus Christ.
